This initiative aims to bring athletics close to the neighborhoods and to offer as many youngsters as possible the occasion to get in contact with the sports. Sports is seen as a vehicle that emphasizes values such as fair play and discipline and as a challenge to youngsters to bring out the best of their talent.
The competitions will be organized in collaboration with Brussels Athletics and Excelsior Track and Field Club, assisted by professionals of the Sports Council of City of Brussels. Official timing will be available.
Next to the 100m the Shot Put will also be introduced as an event. Those who are not amongst the fastest can try their chance to become the strongest of their neighborhood. Entry tickets for the AG Insurance Memorial Van Damme are on offer for the best throwers.
The top 8 performers of the 100m Street Under 14 are invited to compete in the Pre Program at the King Baudouinstadium on September, 11th. All 8 will receive a special certificate.
Five competitions will be organised in different age groups :
- April, 12: Terkameren (Carrefour des attelages)
- April, 19: Rouppe Square
- April, 26: Haren City Centre
- May, 17: Ambiorix Square
- September, 9 : Atomium
