Milanov showed off his great form in the Swedish capital by going beyond 66 metres no less than three times. His 67m05 was the third-best throw of his career. Milanov still didn't manage to improve on his Belgian record of 67m26. Due to the fierce competition Milanov only placed fourth in Stockholm with victory going to Jamaica's Fedrick Dacres with 68m36.
In the #RoadToBrussels standings Milanov is now second. With one discus competition to go he has secured a place in the Brussels finale. The winner of that final meeting will collect 50,000 US dollar.
Kevin Borlée was third in his 400m after a strong finish. His season-best 45.47 still wasn't sufficient to qualify for the world championships in London. Steven Gardiner from the Bahamas won in 44.58. Borlée moves up to sixth in the standings, increasing his chances to make it to the Zürich final with the best eight athletes.
The men's 1500 metres saw a world leading performance by Kenyan Timothy Cheruiyot and his 3:30.77. Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen, whose brothers Henrik and Filip were European champions in recent years, was the first European under the age of 18 to dip below 3:40 (3:39.92).
Andre De Grasse ran a phenomenal, but wind-assisted (+4.8 m/s) 9.69 in the 100-metre race. The women's discus event was won by Cuban Yaimi Perez with 67m92, the first woman to beat Croatia's Sandra Perkovic since August 2015.

The women's pole vault competition went to the surprising Swiss Nicole Büchler, who cleared 4m65. Angelica Bengtsson and Robeilys Peinado did that as well, but needed more attempts.
The high jump victory was for Mariya Lasitskene. She was the only woman to clear 2m00 and now leads the #RoadToBrussels. The men's steeplechase was won by Moroccan favourite Soufiane El Bakkali in 8:15.01.
