The car, which was built and developed by Belgian university students, was driven by sportscar racer Bert Longin. It made a sluggish start and had to chase Kipkoech around the track, but then got up to its cruising speed to beat the Kenyan on the final straight. Longin clocked a 1:13.11, three seconds faster than Kipkoech.
20 METRE EXOSUIT
Earlier the meeting organised a 20 metre exosuit race together with the organisation To Walk Again. The high-tech exosuit allows people with a paralysis to slowly but surely take their own steps again. Paralympians Jurgen Vercammen, Christophe Van Looy, Kristel Gevaert and Linda Van Impelen provided a truly inspirational demonstration of the exosuits and received a lot of well-deserved applause from the Brussels crowd.
