Throughout the afternoon introductory athletics programs and competitions are offered to kids and youngsters. From 5 p.m. on the high performance athletes make their entry on the square.
There is no doubt that Philip Milanov will be welcomed as the big hero on the square. The athlete from Bruges won medals at the recent World and European Championships and proved to be ready for a great performance in Rio. Milanov will be eager to show his great form in Ostend in a strong field against Gudzius, Cadee and many others.
Children up to the age of 12 can enjoy Kids Athletics sessions, conducted by Kim Gevaert and coaches from the local athletics club Hermes. The Long Jump, High Jump and Shot Put are on the program.
Spectators are invited to participate in the events to become the Strongest or the Fastest Man or Woman of Ostend Beach. From 12 to 5 p.m. those who volunteer can compete in the Shot Put or the 60m dash. At 5 p.m. the winners will be honored. This event is organized by Think Pink.
