Schippers is due to compete in the 100m in which she leads the Diamond Race. Schippers was already crowned as the European 100m champion last July in Amsterdam.
In 2015 Schippers took an emphatic victory in the 200m in Brussels, ahead of the American sprint star Allyson Felix and young Jamaican talent Elaine Thompson. Schippers went into that race as the World 200m Champion from Beijing.
All eyes are now set on how Schippers will perform in Rio. Next Friday the Dutch gets underway in the 100m. Later on she will also compete in the 200m and in the 4 x 100m Relay.
