Thompson won in 10”91. The 25-year old Jamaican and double Olympic Champion in the 100m and 200m was faster than Marie-Josee Ta Lou (CIV) in 10”96 and Nigerian Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor (11”09). Her biggest rival Dafne Schippers did not compete in Paris.
Thompson didn’t improve on her World Best Performance (10”71) but she still proved to be ready for the World Championships in London (4-13 August). In London Thompson will only compete in the 100m.
Thompson will most probably also be present in Brussels at the AG Memorial Van Damme. She is now second in the intermediate Diamond League standings behind Ta Lou. The best 8 qualifiers are invited to the Diamond League Final in either Zürich or Brussels. The 100m Women final will take place in Brussels.
Sifan Hassan won the Women’s 1500m in 3’57”10. The Dutchwoman also leads the provisional standings. Novlene Williams-Mills (JAM) was victorious in the Women’s 400m in 51”03 and leads in the Diamond League ahead of Natasha Hastings who didn’t compete in Paris.
Ramil Guliyev (TUR) surprisingly won the Men’s 200m (20”15) ahead of Martina (20”27), Dwyer (20”45) and Webb (20”48), who leads in the Diamond League.
Nijel Amos from Botswana won the 800m (1’44”24), while Jamaican Ronald Levy set a PB to win the 110m Hurdles (13”05). Kenyan Kipyegon Bett finished second in the 800m and has secured his place in the Diamond League Final. Sergey Shubenkov (ANA) finished 4th and has also qualified to compete in the DL-Final in Brussels.
