Van Branteghem set a national 400m record at the 2003 Memorial Van Damme and was a 2004 and 2008 Olympian on the distance. In 2008 he finished 5th with the Belgian 4 x 400m team. He ended his active career at the 2010 Memorial Van Damme after winning European medals that year both indoors and outdoors.
As an Assistant Meeting Director Van Branteghem will collaborate with Meeting Director Wilfried Meert to shape the meeting program and to improve the commercial development of the meeting.
"I worked as a Sales and Marketing Manager in our family company and that is a useful experience that I am bringing to the sports. I am excited to come back to the sports and to combine my passion for sports and for business. Today it is the first day at school and to me it feels just like that."
