Four relay team members competing in the same event has never happened before in the Diamond League. The Belgian Tornados, as the 4 x 400m Relay Team is nicknamed, became European champions in Amsterdam and missed the Olympic Bronze medal by hardly 3 hundredths of a second in Rio, setting a national record on the distance.
Jonathan Borlée won the 400m in Brussels in 2011 in 44”78 while his twin brother Kévin triumphed in 2012 which made him the Diamond Race winner of the event at that time.
